Background Story
Gerrad Cain hails from the planet of Corellia, born right in the capital city of Coronet City. When the Galactic Empire came to power, Corellia was transformed into a war machine for the Emperor, most specifically their shipyards. Gerrad’s parents were both shipbuilders, thus they were indoctrinated into servitude. For his specialty in hyperspace engineering, Gerrad’s father, Andros Cain, managed to elevate his family’s station. His mother Maribel died from Bloodburn when Gerrad was still in secondary school.
Andros, who had become deeply devoted to the Sith principles after his wife’s death, would eventually rise to become a General for Emperor Palpatine and was deeply devoted to his cause. His son would follow in his footsteps and wished to join the naval academy. Gerrad was immediately accepted into the Carida Academy, which would eventually reform as the Imperial Naval Academy, and moved to Carida. He was then stationed on Valor, the space station that orbited Carida. There, he rose through the ranks to eventually become a Commander for the Imperial Navy.
When the Corellian Resistance started to gain power and recognition on Gerrad’s homeworld of Corellia, he sought to be reassigned to the planet. There he joined the ranks to serve under his father, Andros. Many battles ensued between the Imperial Security Forces and this band of rebels, led by Kennar Nadrinakar — an ally of the Onderon Rebels who were led by Saw Gerrera, a radical.
In one particular battle, Saw brought his radical Partisans to Corellia and assisted Kennar in the bombing of the Imperial Security Office at Coronet City. This bombing killed thousands of both Imperials and locals, including General Andros Cain. Gerrad survived the attack and vowed to track down and kill Kennar Nadrinakar and Saw Gerrera both.
When the remnants of the Empire reformed into the First Order under Supreme Leader Snoke, Gerrad joined without question. Gerrad Cain has devoted his life to fighting the rebels and now the Resistance, and through the influence of his father and the Emperor, he is also a Sith Loyalist.

INT. MUUNILINST, INTERGALATIC BANKING CLAN HEADQUARTERS, CENTRAL COMMAND – AFTERNOON
ELLIAN is seated among two other Generals of the First Order Remnants. General GERRAD CAIN (48, human male), who is in charge of the defense of LOTHAL and General FRANCIS PETROV (49, human female), who is in charge of the defense of KUAT. To her left sit AEMONT and ENTRA, who represent the interests of the Intergalactic Banking Clan. On the center display we see other First Order Generals in hologram form. The group squabbles and fights over who is going to take leadership of the First Order now that Supreme Leader KYLO REN is presumed dead. ELLIAN remains quiet, but we can see her frustration and lack of patience increase. The fight escalates as Generals call for their own rise to power and objections come from all sides. ELLIAN is fed up. She slams a fist hard onto the table. ENTRA who has remained quiet, flinches.
ELLIAN ZAHRA
(shouting)
GENERALS!
The room is silenced.
ELLIAN ZAHRA
The order and peace that Supreme Leader Snoke achieved is being threatened at this very moment. And all you can do is point fingers?
(beat)
We cannot allow the Resistance to continue to infect the planets we’ve stabilized with chaos and dissent.
GERRAD CAIN
We have no leader. Kylo Ren is dead!
FRANCIS PETROV
So who’s going to lead us now?
(beat)
Certainly not you? That’s a joke.
GERRAD CAIN
There isn’t a single one of us that can take this on, not like this.
(beat)
We haven’t the resources.
FRANCIS PETROV
Who even has access to Ren’s credits?
GERRAD CAIN
Who even knows?
ELLIAN ZAHRA
I can get us funding.
GERRAD CAIN
From who?
ELLIAN ZAHRA
(a beat passes)
I have some ideas on that.
ELLAIN’S eyes flash for a brief moment with the Sith fire. The room once again is silenced, but for a different reason. AEMONT realizes his loyalty to the Sith isn’t solitary.
