Harter Kalonia met her husband Johan when they were just school children in Chandrila and later would lose touch as her family took a more embedded role in the politics of the galaxy.  Her father served in the Imperial Army and then later joined the Senate as Junior Senator for Chandrila. As such she traveled all over and often would play with the children of other Senators.  One such child was the adopted daughter of Bail Organa, Leia.  The two quickly became the best of friends as they traveled all across the galaxy often with other senatorial children. When she would return home, which was rarely ever, she would meet up with the local children and once again reunite with Johan and his older sister, Kahlesee.

As a teenager, she was tutored abroad as her family traveled to many worlds on diplomatic missions.  When she was 16, her father wanted her to have a much more stable environment so he put her into the boarding school in Chandrila.  But she missed her family an awful lot. Her brother Marcus had married and moved permanently to Coruscant to serve in the Imperial Navy as a pilot. Johan and his sister Kahlesee got to go home every night to their parents, while she remained in the boarding section of the school.  It was very lonely for her.  Johan and she got closer during this time, and by her 17th birthday, they had fallen in love.  They both graduated with honors. 

Johan went off to join the Imperial Navy on Coruscant like her brother, so she endeavored to enter the University at Coruscant to become a doctor.  Still under Imperial Rule, Coruscant became heavily guarded and Harter was not able to leave freely and was forced to serve as a doctor for the Imperial Hospital at Coruscant.  As the Rebellion started to rise up against the tyranny of Emperor Palpatine, Harter’s brother defected to the Rebel cause early on.  Marcus left his wife Minera and his two young children with Harter, who had married Johan, to go fight for the freedom of Coruscant.  Johan had decided to also defect and joined the Rebellion Alliance, who needed exceptional pilots, which Johan was, and Harter joined him. The whole family was secretly rescued out of Coruscant with the help and assistance of one Princess Leia Organa. Marcus and Johan fought bravely with the Rebels as Harter and Minera, who had trained as nurse, patched up the wounded.  Marcus, unfortunately, lost his life in the war. 

Harter had followed Leia to Chandrila after the Rebels defeated the Empire and the family joined the New Republic. They made a home there and Harter had two children — Martin Kalonia and Katie Kalonia. Johan lost his life in active duty as the New Republic fought to keep the peace they had worked so hard to achieve. There, Harter’s deep friendship with Leia grew to a sisterhood.  Leia would often leave her son Ben Solo in the care of Harter and Johan in Chandrila when she was needing to travel.  Little Ben saw Harter and Johan as Aunt and Uncle. 

Later, Harter’s son Martin Kalonia — who also became a pilot for Leia’s Resistance paramilitary group — would die at the hands of recently named Supreme Leader Kylo Ren at the Battle of Crait in 34 ABY.  Katie Kalonia, being 8 years younger than Martin, is alive and serves the Resistance alongside her mother as a bioengineer helping to enhance the production of food in worlds where there is little to none.
